Story Behind the Art
I love this photograph. It’s pure bliss: a beach, the warm tropical breeze, and sounds of the sea just beyond the balcony.
I’d never seen my mother look so radiant, and at ease, as in this image from Cuba in the early 1950s.
The photo was taken is at the seaside town of Cojímar, a short 30 minute drive from downtown Havana.
