Rare photographs capturing moment-in-time scenes of Havana from the early 1900s. An original, classic-style poster from our thematic set of Old Havana.
Story Behind the Image
Reviving a spectacular vintage image from 1910, this travel poster celebrates the beauty of a Cuban landscape in sepia tones.
It’s a dreamy view of a garden avenue that leads to a “finca”, or country estate. The enchanting path, canopied by two towering rows of Cuba’s royal palms, appears dappled with both sun light and shade.
The Spanish phrase “Así Soñaba Cuba” is blended into the image, a wistful term recalling days gone by.
Havana was still a small city at the time this photograph was taken, and the quiet, raw beauty of the island was just beyond the urban center.
