Charming photograph of a day at the beach in Cuba. The scene is almost a fashion shoot, vintage style. This image is also offered in square format, or as part of a curated set.
Story Behind the Art
This photograph was taken in the coastal town of Cojímar, Cuba around 1950 and captures the striking shadows of a young woman sitting on a lone table by the beach.
Looking happy and stylish, she poses with her legs casually crossed. She holds her sunglasses in her hand and is wearing a cute skirt over her dark bathing suit.
I imagine she's smiling because the afternoon sun feels warm, and she can hear the gentle waters and wind along the Caribbean Sea.
She's also in love.
The woman is my mother, and these were my parents' newlywed years, living in Havana until 1956.
