Enchanting sepia-toned view of a classic Spanish-style home in Cuba during the 1940s.
Story Behind the Art
This vintage photograph frames the beautiful, yet modest, house at a large country estate near Havana.
It’s a romantic image of a home similar to many found throughout Cuba styled after Spanish Colonial architecture.
Traditional features include the arches of the colonnade, graceful wrought-iron details, and the terracotta tiled roof.
From the deep terrace on the upper level was where you would enjoy the island breezes or a view out to the distant countryside, which must have been spectacular.
All of the home’s details - including the old stone well in the front garden - would remind you of Cuba’s long Spanish history.
