Story Behind the Art
La Alhambra was a Cuban cigar brand from the 1880s — one of many famous and distinct brand names made in Havana at the large La Corona cigar factory.
This cigar label’s design is set in the Moorish palace of La Alhambra in southern Spain. The intricate architecture and tile work dominate the scene in golden hues.
You also see two woman resting by a fountain patio, while two 15th-century guards flank the ornate and luxurious archway highlighted in oranges, greens and blues.

Preserved from a rare, early 20th-century guide, the art's high resolution retains the mechanical halftone effect and rich details of the original turn-of-the-century press work.
